On Saturday night it wasn’t one single Salmonbellie that had a huge night to lead their team to a 12-6 win instead it was a group of them.
Keegan Bal lead the team in scoring with 7 points (1 goal,6 assists) while Jordan McBride (3 goals,3 assists) and WLA leading point getter Mitch Jones (3 goals,3 assists) both finished with 6 points, Austin Shanks Finished with 5 points (3 goals,2 assists), Lyndon Bunio (1 goal, 1 assist) and Logan Schuss (2 assists) finished the night with 2 points, while Quinn Mackay (1 goal),Jeff Henrick (1 assist), Darryl Robertson (1 assist) and Anthony Malcolm (1 assist) all finished with a single point.
Thursday it was the offence that stole the show with 15 goals and a player with 11 points (BAL), Saturday was the defense and the goaltenders night as that duo held the Adanacs to 2 goals, 1 goal and just 3 goals in each respective period so let’s give credit to Brett and Reid Mydske, Curtis Hodgson, Mike Messenger, Jordan McKenzie, Mike Donaldson, Ian Hawksbee and Justin Salt. Alexis Buque was his usual steady self in net making 31 saves on the 37 shots he faced (.837 save percentage) and improves his record to 7-4 on the season. The Salmonbellies power play was 2-5 on the night (40% conversation rate) while for the 2nd straight game the Penalty was perfect at 5-5.
With the Win the Salmonbellies improve to 7-5 on the season (.583 winning percentage) and into a tie with Nanaimo for that 4th and final playoff spot. The Bellies will now get prepared for their biggest game of the season thus far as they will travel to Cam Neely Arena Tuesday night to take on the hometown Burrards in the rubber match of the season series (not only are the teams tied with 1 win apiece in the season series they are tied in goals scored and goals allowed both with 18) Game time is 7:30PM before the Salmonbellies return home on Thursday July 11th for a rematch with the Coquitlam Adanacs game time for that game is 7:30PM at Queens Park Arena.
