Bellies first loss of 2018, Shamrocks win 12-11

The Salmonbellies hosted the visiting Victoria Shamrock’s at historic Queens Park Arena. This would be the second game of the season with the Red and White taking the first one 9-8 on the island. New West coming in with a 5-0 record while the Rock sit at 3-2.

A strong crowd at QPA and with the ball drop at 7:30PM, the first 6+min saw a combined score of 9 goals with Vic up 6-5 at 6:12 of the first. A run and gun first period with 47 total shots and Victoria with the early 7-5 lead after 20 minutes of play. Bellies goals in the first: Schuss with two, Jordan McBride, Ranford, Mitch Jones.

Ranford with his second of the night at 4:25 followed by Mitch Jones and captain Curtis Hodgson to take the 8-7 lead mid-way through the second. With a 5 minute power play for the Shamrocks, they were able to pick up two on the power play and the lead back 9-8 to end the second. Bellies goals in the second: Ranford, Mitch Jones and Hodgson.

With Hammer Jackson back in the line-up, the face off were dead ever at 50% each.  Alexis Buque got his first back to back start of the season with a .755 save % for the night.
