Bellies grab 10th win of the season with 15-8 home win


The Salmonbellies head into the last third of the season with a huge home win on the wooden floor by beating the visiting Langley Thunder 15-8 and taking the season series 2 games to 1. New West now sits 1st in the league with a 3 point lead on second place Maple Ridge Burrard’s with a game in hand.

Alexis Buque got the start and was busy in the first period. Schuss and Jones got it started fast with two goals in 45 second, followed by three Langley goals in 2 minutes to take a 3-2 lead. New West finished the period string with three late goals to go up 6-5. Bellies goals: Schuss (3), McBride (2) and M Jones

After a tight first period,  New West opened up the game with four unanswered goals and a 10-5 lead at the 14 minute mark of the second period. Langley added two for the period but New West expanded the lead to 11-7. Bellies goals: Schuss, McBride, Malcom, Bunio, and M Jones

Tyler Pace from Langley opened up the third period with a quick goal to get within three, but it was all New West for the remainder of the game with four goals and the 15-8 win.  Bellies goals: Tyrell, Malcom, Bunio, and M Jones

Alex Buque finished with 27 saves on 35 shots and his league leading 7th win of the season. Huge night for Schuss with 9 point, McBride with 5 points and M Jones with 8 points. These three sit 1st, 3rd and 4th in the league for points.
