New Westminster Salmonbellies beat the Langley Thunder 10-05 in Langley last night to grab a 2-0 lead in their WLA semi final series. With period leads of 3-1, 6-3 and outscoring the Thunder 4-2 in the Final frame to drive home a 10-5 win. Even though the folks at the LEC chose not to show any of the Salmonbellies 10 goals on the replay screen they certainly should have, as there were some highlight reel goal scored. Whether it was Jeff Cornwalls back hand top shelf, or one of three rockets by Richard Lachlan, or the first of two by speedy transition specialist Patrick Miles, they were all well deserving of a replay , in front of the fans which were mainly Bellies faithful.
Keegan Bal lead all scorers with 1G 3 A, Jordan McBride had 4A, Richard Lachlan lazered in 3G, and Patrick Miles had 2G 1A. Eric Penney was simply stellar between the pipes stopping 42 of 47 shots fired his way.
