Crowley Debut Huge In 10-8 Home Win

After an 11 day break the boys were back home at Queens Park Arena to take on the first game of the year versus the visiting Maple Ridge Burrards. Big night as we saw the return of  #21 Kevin Crowley in the line up

The first period saw 9 total goals with the Bellies dominating play talking a 6-3 lead after one. Crowley scored the first New West goal while New West captain Hodgson netted two beauties on transition. The second period saw New West build on their lead with three more goals and take a 9-5 lead after 40. Burrard Colton Porter with a vicious butt end to the face of Salmonbellie rookie Tony Tremblay was ejected from the game with a match penalty. The final frame saw a comeback by the Burrards while New West played over half the period shorthanded. The late empty net goal by Mike Messenger secured the 10-8 win.

Alex Buque once again in the pipes for the Salmonbellies with a strong showing with 51 shot – 43 saves.

Kevin Crowley’s debut was huge with 5pts (2G, 3A) while Schuss, Malcom and McCready all with 3pts (1G,2A)
