The Bellies live to fight another day win game #5 10-7

There’s a saying almost as old as lacrosse itself, in the biggest games you need your biggest players to step up and the Salmonbellies got exactly that from the people they needed the most and for that reason they will return home on Saturday night with a chance to force a winner take all game 7 back in Maple Ridge Sunday night.

Austin Shanks (3 goals, 3 assists) and Mitch Jones (2 goals, 4 assists) co led the scoring with 6 points while Logan Schuss had 3 points (1 goal, 2 assists), Mike messenger (2 goals, 12-8 in the faceoff dot) and Keegan Bal (1 goal, 1 assist) finished with 2 points while Goaltender Alexis Buque (1 assist), Jordan McBride(1 goal), Kevin Crowley (1 assist) and Darryl Robertson (1 assist) finished with single points. The New Westminster Special teams had a rough night with the power play finishing 0-4 while the penalty kill finished 1-4 (25% kill rate).

Alexis Buque and the Salmonbellies defenders were stellar tonight as Buque made 44 saves on 51 Burrards shots (.862% save percentage), The Salmonbellies defensive standouts included Brett and Reid Mydske, Curtis Hodgson, Brandon Goodwin, Quinn Mackay, Jason Jones, Jeff Henrick, Mike Donaldson, Ian Hawksbee, and Justin Salt. 

With the Win the Salmonbellies cut the Burrards series lead in this best of 7 WLA semi final series in half to 3 games to 2 and have earned the right to play one more time at historic Queens Park Arena that game will take place Saturday August 10th game time 7:30PM where a win Saturday night will push this series to a 7th and deciding game Sunday Night August 11th back at Cam Neely Arena game time for that game if necessary would be 6:00PM
