TRADE ALERT: Salmonbellies Annouce Blockbuster

TRADE ALERT: New Westminster Salmonbellies are very excited to announce the following trade with the Langley Thunder. 

The Salmonbellies will acquire the playing rights of Brett Mydske, Joel McCready, and Nathan Stewart in exchange Langley Thunder will receive the playing rights of Sean Lundstrom and the following WLA Draft Picks of New Westminster: 

2017 #5,#6,#13,#20 pick -  2018 1st round pick - 2020 2nd and 4th round picks.

Brett Mydske will be coming back to the Royal City and  join his brother Reid on the back end of the floor. Brett started with the Thunder in 2010 with 105 games played and in 2016 captured the WLA Defensive Played of the Year. In the NLL Brett suits up for the  Saskatchewan Rush and has captured two consecutive Champion's Cups over the past two seasons. 

Joel McCready last suited up with the Thunder in 2015 and has had a stellar NLL career. He was originally drafted by Rochester in the second round (18th overall) of the 2008 NLL Entry Draft. Played five seasons in Rochester, scoring 26 goals and 33 assists for 59 points. Joel won two Champion's Cups with Rochester (2013, 2014). Now with the Stealth Joel tallied 48pts in the 2016 season.

Nathan Stewart drafted in 2016 by the Thunder 12th overall was on the injured reserve for the balance of the 2016 season. Now healthy and ready to go for the upcoming 2017 campaign. Nathan played his minor and junior career in New Westminster.

President and General Manager Dan Richardson,  "We have been working on this deal with Langley for the last 6-8 weeks. It is by far the the largest deal I have been apart of in my 15 years. I know from previous deals you have to give up something to acquire the talent we acquired today". Dan continues to say "You cannot put a price on the character and leadership that both Brett and Joel bring to our team let alone their individual lacrosse abilities" On the young New West Junior... "Nathan brings youth and a ton of potential"

Thoughts on what's ahead and what this trade means... "We believe this deal along with a couple other transactions were working on  puts us right in the mix with the top teams in the WLA and MSL. I think this trade sends a message to our existing players , coaches and our fans that we are very serious about not only this upcoming 2017 season  but the next few seasons. Our average age of our club is around 25 years of age  so were very excited about the next few years".
